Cheyne Curry was born in Vermont, raised in New York and spent a majority of her adult life being bicoastal. She has lived in Monterey, Pebble Beach, Ventura, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Studio City and Palm Springs, California as well as spent time in Alabama, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Delaware and Italy. Most of her work experience is law-enforcement related. She was a Military Police officer in the US Army, a civilian police officer, a federal police officer, a civilian correctional officer, a private investigator, a surveillance agent, and in entertainment security management. Cheyne, a drummer and rhythm guitarist, currently spends her time writing books, sketching, composing music and writing screenplays for short films, some of which can be viewed at her website: www.cheynecurry.com She now lives in the Midwest with her wife, Brenda, and their 3 fur kids, Liam, a shepherd-mix, Mesa, a black mouth cur and Belladonna Bossy Pants, a neurotic black cat who runs the house. Curry delivers

Clandestine could be a standard romance of rich girl meets poor girl of her dreams and off they go happily ever after. Curry is a better writer than that however. She knows how to present her characters to create just the effect that she wants and that keeps them interesting. Tia could easily be a character that the reader doesn't like, but, instead she comes off as a "Sad Sack" who deserves a break. Jody is almost too innocent in her view of the world, but when juxtaposed against her mother and her husband, she becomes a sterling example of a human being. Curry doesn't pull her punches either. Jody's mother and husband come off as being just as vicious and double-dealing at the end of the book as they appear from the first. There is no softening of the characters to redeem them. Curry creates a story that is a romance with a little adventure in it and some really despicable characters who are trying to thwart the lovers. That leaves the reader cheering for her main characters.

Clandestine is an interesting book to read. The main characters are appealing, the pacing is right and it holds the reader's attention. Those are all of the ingredients for an entertaining experience.

Ready for a sequel.

Ready for a sequel. But also happy with the one I got.

Curry took a simple premise and drove it down a complex road. Her characters are always damaged goods who you come to take on as friends. This story could have been a 400-word sidebar in a newspaper-- but in the hands of a master such as Curry, we get a wonderful complex story with tension, hooks, and subterfuge. Once again, Curry delivers the full-meal deal; and adds some dessert.

Georges Philips has been a therapist for more than twenty years, as well as a psychoanalyst and educator. A plan for life not just a new years resolution

OK so we all know about yoyo dieting, it's easy to become convinced that a diet is working when in reality any you're just shedding your excess water for the first few weeks. But dieting is more than just a few simple recipes, it requires an understanding of your unique body and its receptiveness to food, fitness and mental being.

This is the first diet book I've read that addresses all 3 of these commitments to a successful diet.

I highly recommended this easy and enjoyable read that whilst providing extensive examples of recipes - really drills the importance of you creating your own diet based on the knowledge you learn from the book and from your new found understanding of your own body.

How can we argue with what nature intended?

Finally a way of eating that encourages reliable weight loss, while promoting optimum health and there's solid science to back up its claims. This book explains simply but clearly just where we having been going wrong in our eating habits. It exposes why metabilic syndrome is prolific and just how it can be overcome. I have followed the guidelines within the book and while I have lost 7 kilos over the last 2 months, more importantly, I have never felt so good whilst 'dieting'. I actually have to say that the process has been an absolute pleasure and a far cry from the struggles that accompanied my attempts on the conventional low fat diets we have been duped into trusting.

I am never hungry and have so much energy, especially in the afternoons when I used to feel sluggish a couple of hours after lunch. My sleep has also improved as has the condition of my skin, hair and nails. These changes were evident within about 2 weeks of commencing the 'diet'. I actually don't like to refer to this as a diet as once I reach my goal weight (in the not too distant future), I will NOT be returning to my old habits, which ironically were deemed 'healthy' by conventional standards. No sir, I am experiencing what REAL health should feel like and quite simply it is from eating REAL food. Funny that! Ultimately, we cannot argue with nature and I am done trying.

Hi guys, thought I would share some thought provoking and agenda stimulating reading I have recently come across. The book is entitled “Financial Management in Constructing Contracting” by Andrew Ross & Peter Williams, but could easily have been called “The Constructor’s Almanac” or “Wisdens Construction Guide“. If you want the “inside line” on construction know how, this book covers it all.

From an understated promise to “explain how the financial position on construction contracts is reported” the book expands into every conceivable avenue the authors could explore in their quest to open up, explain, walk through and map, the processes that guide the industry and control the business operation of a construction company, from finance to bidding, managing risk to delivery, and every stop in between.

If you are a student, the early chapters on finance, accounting, contracts and procurement, will set out the basics of the industry in straightforward language, lots of good worked examples and clearly labelled diagrams. The later chapters address the subtleties of cash management, budget control, risk and opportunity management, progress monitoring, valuations and cost/value reconciliations, in far deeper detail and with contemporary work sheets to guide you through and explain the complexities of reporting cost and value in equal proportion.

The authors have extensive practical experience of the industry, both having risen from the shop floor to the lecture theatre, are suitably qualified to add insight to knowledge and have managed to capture in many ways the essence of the industry, its conflicts, collaborations, power plays and team working. About the Author

Andrew Ross is Head of Postgraduate Programmes in the School of the Built Environment, Liverpool John Moores University. He teaches construction project financial management to undergraduate and post graduate students and has successfully supervised many PhD students as well as acting as external examiner to numerous UK and overseas Universities for undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree courses.

Peter Williams is a Consultant and Lecturer with extensive practical experience in building, civil engineering and surveying. Formerly a chartered builder, chartered quantity surveyor and principal lecturer, he is now a writer, researcher, lecturer and consultant with particular interests in contracts and finance, delay analysis and health and safety management.

There are 156 pages in this new edition, 238 pictures, mostly in full colour, and two maps. As in the first edition, Steven Hammer with his usual mindstretching vocabulary and graphic writing style, unfolds the history of these little treasures; shows us the plants in habitat, a necessary step if we are to be able to understand their requirements in cultivation; illustrates their distribution; introduces us to their powers of self-hiding and enlightens us about the precipitation they receive in the wild. He also takes us in the greenhouse and advises how best to cultivate lithops, from pollinating the plants to seed-raising, from light requirements to resting the plants. With the excellent photography of Chris Barnhill and others, the reader is then treated to a profusion of lithops mugshots. The photographs are mostly taken without flowers - to have included them would have hidden the plant in many cases - but a separate section shows many of these 'stones' richly in flower. Accompanying the photographs are descriptions, distributions and other notes for each species, including observations on any cultivars for that species.

Readable and Knowledgeable

Horticulture books tend to one of two approaches--either rich, dense and fact filled(and deplorably dry and dull) or engaging and approachable(while simplistic and insubstantial). The inimitable Steven Hammer has threaded the needle very nicely. The text reflects his considerable expertise in both the taxonomic and cultural aspects of the genus, and the text is suffused with a quirky and very readable erudition. In addition to the material on the various species--in approach, Hammer seems to fall midway between lumper and splitter--he has a nice section on some of the more interesting hybrid cultivars and sports that come available from time to time. I would consider this good company for D. Cole's and E. Storm's works on Lithops, although if anything the pictures are nicer than either. Well worth acquiring for even the semi-serious Mesemb enthusiast, and a most enjoyable read on the merits of the prose.

MUST HAVE FOR LITHOPS LOVERS

Absolutely the BEST book on lithops you can find. Believe me, I have ordered every other book on succulents and lithops available on Amazon. The entire book is very thin, more like a thick magazine, but the pages are full-colored.
This book is perfect for those who are just getting into collecting lithops or experienced collectors. The first half of the book talks about the history, regions where they grow (with maps), lithops anatomy, cultivation, and growth. The second half of the book is a catalog of Lithops species and their COLORED PHOTOGRAPHS. No more guessing your species from vague descriptions or from photos with no details!

Clear outline in growing Lithops

Conflicting statements online got me all confused on how to grow Lithops, this book clarified most doubts (eg, ideal size of pots, what kind of soil mixture) so far (at least to where I've read) some parts written in a very tongue in cheek way, which does make it all the more a fun read.
